Summary

People who row with us don't just get incredible satisfaction, fun times and the best workout of their lives. They have access to scholarships, leadership opportunities, and chances to participate in some of the most thrilling competition anywhere. They have a chance to make history, make a difference and be a part of something bigger than themselves.

Cross Currents is committed to increasing minority participation in the sport of rowing. In doing so, we are breaking through economic barriers and opening up life-changing opportunities, doors that were previously limited or closed.

Participants in rowing have access to scholarships at the best colleges in the country and are attractive to elite military units. They develop outstanding self discipline, confidence and teamwork skills, attributes that breed success in school, work and relationships. Our success extends far beyond its immediate manifestation: the diversification of a largely homogenous sport. Like an oar blade pushing through water, we are the catalyst for a series of events. Our rowers learn to love water sports, develop key life skills and access new pathways to education and personal enrichment.

Athletic Scholarships in various amounts are available for qualified rowers on a reimbursement basis. Scholarship recipients will be asked to volunteer one hour for CC for every $25 of scholarship awarded, and must participate in CC-sanctioned fund raising efforts. Scholarships may also be offset by the recipient's efforts to replace the funds expended through sponsorships, corporate donations, in-kind services and the like upon mutual agreement.. Other financial scholarship or reimbursement arrangements may be negotiated case-by-case. CC has limited resources to offer scholarships. Therefore scholarships will be offered only to those committed to the sport of rowing, and who demonstrate their commitment through participation, attitude and efforts. CC reserves the right to rescind a scholarship at any time for non-commitment in order to ensure that funds are available to those more deserving.
