USRowing recently announced the official sanctioning (6/9/11) of the inaugural USRowing Diversity Invitational hosted by Cross Currents Minority Rowing in Rochester, NY on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Sponsored by MVP Health Care, the event features competition among USRowing's America Rows partner programs, and will become the 21st sanctioned regatta, setting the course to break a 136-year history of systemic under representation in this exhilarating Olympic sport.
Brief Description: 'America Rows is a nationwide diversity and inclusion initiative aimed at increasing awareness of rowing and introducing the sport of rowing to a diverse group of Americans, specifically the underserved urban youth who may not have the opportunity to participate in rowing. America Rows programs across the nation will unite to showcase their diversity, inclusion and community outreach programs and to compete.
